Back when I worked at Procter & Gamble—long before I started Peregrune—we were developing a new line of toothbrushes. The marketing team had an idea: take our existing bristle technology and put it in bold neon colors—bright pinks, greens, yellows. The plan was to pitch it to major retailers like Walmart and Target.
During a big corporate meeting, one of the senior managers asked how sales efforts were going. I had the latest updates, so I spoke up: It’s not going to work. The customers don’t want it.
After the meeting, my boss pulled me aside. “You can’t say that,” he told me. “Never say something can’t be done. Instead, say what you would need to make it happen.”
That stuck with me.
How often do we face something that feels impossible? A big running goal, a tough work project, a challenge that seems just out of reach? Instead of saying it can’t be done, ask yourself: What would I need to make it happen?
For running, maybe you need a coach. More mileage. A different training plan. Strength work. The right nutrition. Once you shift the mindset from can’t to how, the path forward becomes clearer.
What’s your next big goal? And more importantly—what would you need to make it happen?
P.S. If nutrition is one of the things you need, our Runner Multivitamin is engineered specifically for endurance athletes like you. Check it out here.
